The Importance of Voice Overs

[ad_1]

Everyone has heard a voiceover at one time or another. From the voice of Mickey Mouse, to the voice that sells you shampoo or insurance on the radio, voiceovers provide an effective way to evoke emotion or get important information across to an audience. In fact, without voiceover, media wouldn’t have the same impact and the entertainment industry would be at a great loss. The importance of voiceover can be seen every day in a variety of techniques.

What is Voiceover?

Voiceover is a production technique where a voice that is not part of the production is used to speak a particular part. Voiceovers are common in radio, television, film and even theatre. Often, voice actors are hired specifically to perform voiceovers and have no other role in the production.

Techniques

Character Voices

One of the more popular uses for voiceover is to give a voice or a personality to an animated character. Think about Shrek or any other popular Disney Movie. Each character is actually someone behind the scenes with a microphone making the voice come alive. As animated movies are growing in popularity, well known celebrities are looking for voiceover roles, hoping to add a bit of variety to their acting portfolio.

Movie Narration

Another popular use for voiceover is providing narration to a movie. This type of voiceover is so common in movies, you probably don’t even realize it’s happening. Generally, the narrator in a movie has intimate details about the characters on the screen and provides insight for the audience as to their thoughts or emotions. In this sense, voiceover is a critical part of many movies and is necessary for keeping the audience informed. Blockbuster hit movies like Fight Club and Shawshank Redemption use voiceover to provide context.

News Reporting and Non-Fiction Television

Often voiceover is used to report the news. In fact, most television news broadcasts use voiceover as much as live anchors to report news that was taped earlier or segments that were edited beforehand. Other non fiction television that relies on voiceover includes media like the History Channel or the Discovery Channel. Particularly where the focus is educational, voiceover provides a guide for viewers to understand what they are seeing. In addition, game shows have been using voiceover for decades to announce contestants and prizes. Almost everyone is familiar with the popular voiceover from the 1970’s who exclaimed “come on down, you’re the next contestant on the Price is Right!”.

Commercial Advertising

Advertising is another very common use for voiceover. In fact, radio is completely voiceover and actors are never seen. In fact, voiceover is so useful for radio advertisement that certain product manufacturers have signed long term contracts with voiceover actors to “brand” their products. When consumers hear the same, familiar voice representing a product, it builds instant trust and credibility. Even on television, where actors can be seen, it is more likely that a product is featured with voiceover and without an actor. Besides, a strong voiceover highlights the sale instead of the actor seen with the product.

Voiceover is an important part of our movie and television experience. In many cases, voiceover represents more than just information, but has become part of a product, building trust and credibility with consumers.

Beginners Guide to Buying a New Computer

[ad_1]

With everyone being so reliant on computers to perform all sorts of tasks like, video editing, image creation, house design, data storage, emailing, social media, conferencing or even just chatting to a friend on the other side of the world, it’s important to know what type of computer and accessories you will need before you make a purchase.

So many of us are not too sure where to start, when it comes to buying a new PC. We rely either on what someone else has told us or on what the computer sales person tells us.

This article with provide you with some helpful tips on purchasing a PC and accessories that will meet your requirements and help prevent you falling prey to pushy sales people.

Misinformed

By not knowing what your computer requirements are and what you should buy, puts you at a disadvantage and at the mercy of some salespeople who just want to make a sale, regardless of whether it meets your need or not. Therefore, being none the wiser we tend to accept what we are being told as gospel, only to find out later on that we have been misinformed.

Extra Costs

You hear stories of people who have just bought a computer based on someone’s say so, only to discover later on that they need to purchase something extra. For example, a software trial program that came with the PC needs to be purchased because the trail version has expired.

Trial versions usually last for 60 days after which you need to purchase a license to continue to use it. Most first PC buyers are not told that they will need to purchase a software license when the trials run out. MS Office and Antivirus trial software are usually the two main programs that come already installed on a new PC.

As a side note, you can save some money by downloading a free MS Office look-alike program such as OpenOffice that does all that MS Office does and downloading a free antivirus program, such as AVG.

I recommend that you purchase a retail version of an antivirus program that includes a firewall. The firewall helps protect your computer from hackers and programs that try to gain access to your computer while connected to the internet. A firewall acts like a security fence.

Checklist

1) Note down what you would like to be able to do with your new computer, e.g., browse the internet, send email, chat with and view live video of distant family and friends, type up letters, play homemade videos, play music, print out photos, etc.

2) Ask family or friends to see if anyone can recommend a good computer store or a good brand of PC they have personally used and have had a good run from.

3) If you have a computer savvy friend ask them to accompany you to help you with your PC purchase.

4) Take your time; it is your money you are spending. Ask a lot of questions. Do not let any salesperson sell you what they want, but purchase what you want according to your checklist. Get them to answer your questions in non-technical language.

Be assertive but polite. If a salesperson can’t be bothered to take the time to explain things to you and answer your questions, then find another salesperson or store that will.

5) Ask what the best price is and what extras are they prepared to throw in.

Selection

Your selection criteria will be based on the following.

A quality brand, one that is well-known and has been around for a while e.g. Asus, Dell, HP or a well-known, locally assembled brand.

My recommended minimum requirements for a PC for basic usage based on current technology is as follows.

Intel I 5 2.3X GHz or I 7 2.8X GHz CPU (The speed of the processor)

750GB Hard Drive (The amount of internal storage)

4GB Ram (The amount of memory)

Graphics Card 1GB Ram

Combo CD/DVD/Blue Ray Burner

Keyboard/Mouse

Speakers

Bluetooth

Ethernet port

USB ports (at least 6)

20″ LCD Monitor PC

Windows 7 Operating system

Antivirus Software 1 year license (if possible)

One that has a warranty of 1 to 3 years, preferably 3 years. If it is not too expensive, purchase an extended warranty if the PC only comes with a 1 year warranty. Check what the warranty covers and if it comes with an on-site or return to base warranty.

An on-site warranty is where the service technician comes out to your house to service your computer. This removes the hassle of having to disconnect your computer system, and take it into the service center for service. Though it is more convenient for you to have an on-site warranty, it is not essential, just as long as you have a warranty cover of some sort.

Check if the computer repairs are performed locally or does the computer have to be sent away. If it has to be sent away, inquire as to what the repair turnaround time usually is.

It is much better to purchase a computer that has a local service center, as the repair turnaround time should be a lot shorter. It also has the advantage of you being able to deal with the service center personally if you have any issues, as opposed to dealing with a call center by phone in another part of the country or overseas.

Extras

If you want to do email, chat and view the family via the internet or printout letters, then you will need to purchase additional hardware items, such as a web camera, an inkjet or laser printer, a broadband modem and a broadband package for internet use.

Web cameras are not expensive, so purchase a good quality one. A good entry-level inkjet or laser printer these days are not expensive either, but one important thing to find out before you buy a printer is the cost of its consumables i.e. ink cartridges for the inkjet printer and the laser cartridge and drum for the laser printer. Inquire also, as to what is the average cost per page for black printing and color printing as some printer consumables are not cost-effective to use.

Setup

If you do not have anyone to help you setup your new computer, then you will have to get a PC technician to call round and setup your computer, printer, email and broadband. Before you do this though, inquire around to get the best rate and see if they can give you an estimate of the time and cost involved.

Protection

Finally, you will need to protect your new PC, printer and modem from the possibility of electrical damage by purchasing a good quality surge/spike protector.

The Psychology Of Racism

[ad_1]

The root cause of racism is hatred and antagonism against the minority. These feelings are founded on feelings of superiority by the majority. There are places in the United States where white people vacated and left blacks. They will have businesses there, work there, but they cannot live in the neighborhood. Need some proof? Go to Baton Rouge.

How brainwashing has been used to control the mind.

Brainwashing is a form of mind control which targets a person’s ability to make choices without being pressured or coerced. When a person has been brainwashed, they are denied the ability to analyze and make deductions without caring what other people tell them. In the psychology of racism, prejudiced individuals have been brainwashed to think that they are superior and some of us are here to been seen and not heard. Some blacks have also been brainwashed to believe that they are worthless.

Racism and denying yourself worth.

We have to face some facts here. Racism entails comparing and contrasting the superiority of a person or group to the inferiority of another. This is not a win-win game. One party uses the perceived inferiority of the minority to show their superiority. The accused becomes both the jury and the judge – what a twisted world! Whenever racism is introduced, you can be sure someone will lose – and it’s always the minority.

Control The Mind Control The Person.

When it comes to the psychology of racism mind control is a pillar. Mind control also known as brainsweeping or coercive persuasion involves indoctrinating people to the extent that their freedom of thought is impaired. The indoctrinated individual has no capacity to ask themselves why they do what they do. Indeed, when you control a person’s mind, you have them in your grip and they will do your bidding.

Inferiority complex and racism.

In America racism is common and come in various forms and shapes including police brutality and racial profiling among others. This has resulted to low self-esteem among the minority especially blacks. Actually, low self-esteem is the number one reason for involvement in felonies. Why? Because racism is all about real power and when one human being is denied their power, they will react to show their displeasure.

Superiority complex psychology.

It is both laughable and ridiculous to know that superiority complex is a form of defense mechanism which people employ to recompense for inferior complex. Such people believe that their value is depended on abasing and hurting others.

Assassinating a person character with racism.

The psychology of racism involves character assassination. Character assassination can be described as a premeditated and consistent process which intends to malign or mess up with the credibility of a person or group of people. People who assassinate others’ character use various methods including misleading information, abasing, defamation and manipulation. This may lead to rejection by others who may not know the real truth – does this ring a bell? Racism is powerful and will often fight back through character assassination.

Nothing is impossible. If today we are living in well built houses and not caves, if today we are using modern stoves and not firewood, if today we are walking fully dressed and not naked, nothing is impossible. One day – racism will be history.

What Online Video Are You Watching?

[ad_1]

Many internet gurus are labeling this time in history as the age of Web 2.0. This state denotes the loss of inhibitions, and the use of the Internet is a new media free speech. In Web 2.0, everyone has their own virtual counterparts online, everyone reaches out to each other online, and everyone can use the internet to communicate their unique ideas.

The new internet model has also ushered in the age of online videos, where sites such as Google videos and YouTube cater to the common human element to make one’s voice heard, as well as to peer into the lives and experiences of others. Online videos can take on various forms depending on their content..

Blog videos are personal online videos that involve an individual or groups of people talking to a camera and recoding eventsdocumenting experiences through a host of video choices. Other blogs will involve capturing experiences, similar to a diary style for other people to watch . Some blogs will involve posting pictures, along with captions still in the style of a diary for other people to view online.

Trailers or previews of up and coming movies have long been available online for avid movie watchers to see again and again. Directors and producers have taken this a step further by creating internet promotional blogs, where directors relay their stepson the web or present scenes for movie watchers to watch and judge.

It can be hard to always watch your favorite news programs or shows if you are busy at the office and return late at night. Some TV production companies have now come up with streaming video, which can allow you to catch up with the shows online.

Streaming video includes news segments of a show, or the show itself live through your Internet browser or media player. Streaming video works best with fast internet connections, as internet traffic can often interfere with the quality of video playback.

Several sites now offer videos for download, so those with slower internet connections can use a different alternative to solve the difficulty of keeping up with a streaming video. Video files, however, can take a long time to download. They will be improved quality than streaming video, as they can be viewed at the user’s own convenience. Streaming videos can often be grainy or pixellated depending on the bandwidth of the site and the number of people watching the video at the same time.

Porn sites were offering online videos before anyone, usually for a fee and catering to the voyeuristic tendencies of users who access such sites. Pornographic online videos have long been circulated on the Internet and may be downloaded from different sites without warning as to their contents. If you are guardian or parent to young children, then you may want to closely monitor your child’s online habits since pornographic videos are so replete and abundant.Your child may be a victim long before you are aware of it.

Online videos may also be classified according to the fee that should be paid before they can be viewed. Some online videos may be offered entirely for free and belong to certain sites that allow everyone to post their videos. As a result, there are many videos to choose from with varying degrees of quality. Take a look around YouTube or Google Video to see what is available in online video.

Parts of online videos may be offered for free, with the entire video available for a fee. Other online videos may also be offered in whole for free, but with very low resolution and quality, while the high quality video will be offered for a fee. Yet other online videos can be viewed only when they are purchased. These videos will often be excellent quality, and may take longer to download. There is also a growing number of training videos to show you how tomake online videos.

The world of Web 2.0 is a place of free expression but is also more susceptible to the dangers of unedited, uncensored free speech. If you are interested in viewing online videos, look for them at reputable sites and do not chose to purchase anything unless you absolutely need the video and are convinced of the source’s trustworthiness.

Water Fuel Cars – Are They Useful?

[ad_1]

Many consumers & companies across the world are looking for alternate options to fuel their vehicles. Since so many people are affected by the price hike in fuels, running a car by water as its fuel can be a simple solution. The whole world is facing a fuel crisis. This is not only attributed on the price grounds but also lead to environmental hazard. The high price of the fuel and several other damages to the Mother Nature is a matter of concern for many.

Current price of fuel can be easily tackled with a water fuel car which is quite cheap. Newspapers,   TV  and other  media  have been sending out the awareness message to people about the rising financial crisis and increase in the fuel costs. Many people in this world need cars for their everyday life. But, because of the price hike in fuels, maintaining the car expenses seem to be a major concern.

If it is possible to make the cars to run on water as its fuel on a mass scale then it can suitably solve a lot of financial problems for the people. Not everyone is aware by the water fuel cars and thus they lose a lot from the existing system that makes them spend more than they can afford. Oil companies have lobbied since a long time and have controlled the oil prices in the market. If water fuel cars are manufactured, then the people will have the freedom to decide. Moreover, this alternative source will definitely lower the demand for fuel which can alternatively lead to decline in oil prices.

Since water fuel cars will benefit the people as well as the environment, many people actually favor this option. In the changing world scenario, it is important that this eco-friendly product is launched in the market. Moreover, a product with environmental benefit will tend to gain popularity much faster if it is also cheaper as compared to existing technology. It is a great opportunity for any company to launch a car that runs on water fuel as it will not only generate huge number of sales but also paves way to innumerable kudos and accolades.

A Bose Cinemate Gs Series II Review

[ad_1]

Sound is meant for the ears. The mind receives what the ears have detected and makes its own interpretations. Therefore, a balanced Bose cinemate gs series ii focuses on what the ears receive that leaves an impression on the mind.

In the past a lot has come on the market with different designs and abilities. But the Bose cinemate gs series ii has shown that this system has allowed a new version of quality to come on the market with more focus on a refined and improved sound quality. It’s not surprising that this home theater system has already been put to different usages. This admirable powerful sound master can balance the sound output by merely allowing you to select the desired output version of equalizing the sound. In addition, there is no need to start worrying about the arrangement you are going to end up with in order to produce well-balanced sound. However, a Bose cinemate gs series ii, which really is amazingly easy to install and set up. You absolutely do not need to be technically savvy to set this system up. Simply connect a few cords and you are ready to go.

In my Bose cinemate gs series ii review, I will also mention that the most important ability of this sound equipment is in the way you adapt to the music and select your own choices without worrying about the effect on the other factors like accompanying noises and distorted sounds. It is a good habit to check the Bose cinemate gs series ii review to know more about it. When most experts recommend, we always listen with care and courtesy that is why it is important to note that the experts have managed to accept this equipment as an efficient sound icon and a must have for lovers of high quality sound. In addition, it is also vital to point out that this 2010 speaker of the year was designed to handle almost any home arrangement of most consumption levels and preferences. But even as more emphasis is put on the importance of maintaining high quality sound, it is a reminder that the equipment is able to serve with maximum reliably and warranty for the money spent.

Bose has led the industry in sound quality for years and the Bose Cinemate Gs Series ii is yet again another hit. Which really does not surprise me at all, given the history of Bose products.

5 Barriers to Creating Great Content and How to Overcome Them

[ad_1]

Do you have a good reason for not creating fresh, valuable content online? Common excuses include not having enough time, hating to write, not knowing what to say, lack of focus, and self-centeredness.

The greatest impediment to content creation is believing you don’t have enough time. Because we all are given the same number of minutes in every day, this is a flimsy excuse at best. You can overcome this barrier:

• Delegate the task.

• Hire a ghostwriter.

• Turn off the TV.

• Get off the Internet.

• Make it a priority.

A second barrier is hating to write. Perhaps you had a bad experience with writing in school or you’ve been told you don’t write well. You can overcome this barrier by creating content in different formats:

• Record an interview.

• Create a podcast.

• Host a teleseminar or Webinar.

• Videotape yourself speaking on your area of expertise.

• Forget almost all of the grammar and punctuation rules that apply to writing and create content that reflects your conversational style instead.

Not knowing what to say or write is also a stumbling block. Ask yourself these questions before you start the content creation process and you will overcome this difficulty:

• What problems do my ideal clients face?

• What needs do they have?

• What are they searching for?

• How can I help them?

• What solutions can I offer?

Once you ask these questions, you may discover another challenge. You have so much to share, and you want to get your valuable information to prospects as soon as possible so you could easily produce massive amounts of information. The problem is unfocused content. Overcome this temptation:

• Pick one theme and write a series of articles instead of one extremely long article.

• Stick to one topic per blog post.

• Let each page of your Web site have a single focus instead of trying to answer every question your visitors might ever have.

The final difficulty to overcome is self-centeredness. Your audience needs to know enough about you to know, like, and trust you when the time comes to take action. However, what they really want to know is how you can help them, solve their problems, or make their lives better. Conquer self-centeredness by focusing on:

• Your ideal clients’ needs

• The benefits they are searching for

• The solutions necessary for their problems

Attract your ideal clients with valuable information. Overcome the five barriers to creating great content with these simple steps. Manage your time. Use different formats. Ask the right questions. Focus. Make your content about your prospects’ needs.

Solution: (SMTP-SSL) Port Is Disabled – Consult Your Network Admin

[ad_1]

The Problem

From time to time I will get an odd error when setting up scanning to email on a Sharp copier that says:

“(SMTP-SSL) Port is disabled. Consult your system admin.”

I’ll admit, this error had me puzzled the first few times I saw it, and I thought the problem was within the router, not in the Sharp printer. The first time I saw the error I worked around it and used an SMTP server that didn’t require SSL. Since those servers are becoming more and more difficult to find lately, I decided to figure out why this error was being generated by my copiers. The solution was simpler than I originally thought it would be. It was in an area of the web interface that we technicians don’t normally fumble around in, the security settings.

The Solution

If you’re getting the “(SMTP-SSL) Port is disabled. Consult your system admin.” error, here is the quick fix. Before we get started you’ll need to know the Sharp copier’s IP address. I’ll assume you already know how to get into the web GUI if you’re setting up scan to email, but if you don’t know the IP address of the copier you can print a NIC page with this information on it.

1. From the Sharp’s IP accessed web interface first login as an administrator by clicking Login at the top right corner. The default administrator password is “admin” by default. If this password does not work you’ll need to contact your Sharp dealer to see if they know it, or to reset it.

2. Next, click Security Settings at the bottom of the left menu, then click Port Control underneath Security Settings.

3. Scroll down on the Port Control page to find the Client Port area, then look for the SMTP-SSL option, enable it, then click submit at the bottom of the page.

At this point you should be able to scan to email with an SMTP server that requires SSL. I’m not sure why this port setting is disabled from time to time, but at least there is a quick fix for it.

To verify your connection to the SMTP server click Network Settings on the left menu.

Scroll down to the SMTP section, and click Execute on the connection test. A popup will ask if you want to run the test with the displayed DNS servers, say OK, then you should have your successful reply.

Free Pantyhose Fetish Dating – Local Lists of Fetish Mates in Your Town

[ad_1]

You are interested in free pantyhose fetish dating. I can tell you about a free way to find women in your town who share your pantyhose fetish. There are no free dating sites that specifically cater to your fetish. What you have are a smattering of paid membership sites that charge inflated rates. They charge more than general dating sites because there is demand and very little supply of pantyhose dating profiles. This is strange, in all honesty, because your fetish is extremely common and linked to many related fetishes. A pantyhose fetishist (or someone with a fetish for “tights”, if they live in the United Kingdom) will generally like stockings, socks, panties, feet, shoes, boots, legs, dresses and skirts. Now, consider your neighborhood. When you look around at women in pantyhose or tights, how many of these women share you fetish? Well, next to foot fetishism, yours is the second most popular sexual fetish. We can only guess, therefore, but a great many women around you will share your enthusiasm. Would it not be wonderful to have a list of such local women?

The free modern dating community requires new members to fill out a profile upon joining. Now inside this profile is information about your favored fetishes. This is good news for you because it gives you an excellent – and free – method of finding local partners who will let you kiss their pantyhosed feet. Become a member of any large dating community, free or paid, and simply put in a search for women seeking men who have a hose fetish. You will be given a free list of local women, usually minutes from your door, who share your sexual preference. As a final piece of advice, simply email or instant message each woman, letting her know your personal feelings about your proclivity. This will invariable interest them greatly – compared to their many boring messages – and will set the tone for your future relationship.

New CD and DVD Technology — Blu-Ray and HD-DVD

[ad_1]

The compact disc has been around since 1978, developed by Phillips and Sony. The reason it was developed was to take over for the Laserdisc as the industry standard digital audio disc. Since its invention, we have seen many updates on the compact disc technology. The most recent being the CD-R and DVD discs. With the CD-R, you can now burn your own discs at home, and then modify those discs at a later date. DVD technology allows us to record video onto a disc, where we used to only be able to record audio and data. As time rolls by, and the disc industry advances, we are presented with new forms of these technologies. The two new contenders are Blu-Ray discs and HD-DVD, here’s a little information about each of these new disc types.

1. Blu-Ray

This type of disc, also known as Blu-Ray Disc, is the next generation of optical disc. It was developed by the Blu-Ray Disc Association, a group of consumer electronic/PC/media manufacturers, including: Apple, HP, Mitsubishi, Phillips, Sony, and others. The Blu-Ray disc type was mainly developed for recording, rewriting, and playing back high-definition (HD) video. It’s also perfect for storing large amounts of data, exceeding previous DVD-R disc storage capabilities. It can hold more than 5 times the amount of information that a traditional DVD can hold, up to 25GB single layer, and up to 50GB dual layer. One of the main differences of the Blu-Ray disc is the type of laser that the disc is read with. Normal DVDs are read with a red laser, the Blu-Ray discs are read with a blue-violet laser. The main benefit of this change is the wave length of the laser types. The traditional red laser has a wider focus, so the blue-violet laser can be focused more precisely allowing more tightly packed data. This equals more data in less space on the disc, this results in the additional storage space available on the new Blu-Ray discs. These new discs are backwards compatible with regular DVDs, which they are expected to replace in the near future.

2. HD-DVD

HD-DVD discs, High Definition Versatile Discs or High Definition Digital Video Discs, are very similar to the Blu-Ray discs. This disc type is being developed by a group of consumer electronics/PC companies, headed by Toshiba. They also use a blue-violet laser to read the contents of the disc, which results in an increase in storage capacity compared to normal DVD discs. The HD-DVD can store 15GB single layer and 30GB double layer, making their storage capacity 10GB per layer smaller than the Blu-Ray. But Toshiba has announced a triple layer disc that can hold 45GB of information, and the HD DVD discs can hold both HD DVD and regular DVD information on one disc.

Right now these two disc types are battling it out to become the next generation of DVD disc technology, conjuring up images of the battle between Betamax and VHS in the 80’s. I guess we’re all wondering who’s going to come out on top? In my honest opinion, I believe that Blu-Ray will become the new standard. Both disc types offer HD capability and large data storage capacity, so it’s kind of hard to say which is better. The Blu-Ray, with its greater maximum storage capacity and the fact that it’s being backed by more of the large consumer electronic/PC/media manufacturers, I believe will win the battle. But it’s all still up in the air, so only time will tell.
